Kanda is expected to provide Prime Minister Fumio Kishida with insights on international financial trends, according to Hayashi, who also serves as the chief cabinet secretary.
In related news, Atsushi Mimura assumed Kanda's previous role as the vice finance minister for international affairs on Wednesday, taking charge of the country's currency policies.
