Former BJD Leader Joins BJP, Shakes Up Rajya Sabha Dynamics

Mamata Mohanta, formerly a leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, following her resignation from the Rajya Sabha and the BJD.
The departure of Mohanta has decreased the BJD's representation in the Rajya Sabha to eight seats. The BJD also lacks any representation in the Lok Sabha.
Odisha, Mohanta's home state, has a total of 10 seats in the Rajya Sabha.
