Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took a veiled dig at the BRS, alleging attempts to defame the government on law and order issues. Referring to a debate on Hyderabad's development in the Assembly, he accused some individuals of seeking to harm the city's brand image.
Reddy cited crime statistics, noting 47 murders from December to July this year, compared to 48 in the previous six months. He pointed out that no minister or senior leader had consoled families in high-profile crime cases, like the 2019 Disha case, which drew national outrage.
Reddy emphasized the government's initiatives to upgrade civic infrastructure, including the Musi riverfront development and transformative urban plans to meet international standards. He also mentioned the creation of Hydra, an agency aimed at preventing encroachments on state-owned properties.
During the debate, controversial statements from MLA Danam Nagender against BRS members led to protests and a walkout by K Chandrashekar Rao's party. Nagender, a Congress switch from BRS, later expressed regret, while implying that objectionable remarks had been directed at him. Speaker G Prasad Kumar assured that any unparliamentary language would be expunged from the records.
