Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has claimed that the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is planning a raid against him, suggesting that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using central agencies to stifle dissent. Odisha MLA and Congress leader Ramchandra Kadam echoed Gandhi's concerns, asserting that the public supports the opposition leader.

On Friday, Gandhi took to social media platform X to allege forthcoming ED action against him. He attributed the move to his recent speech criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Union Budget 2024 session in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi remarked that farmers, workers, and the youth are living in fear.

Gandhi criticized the Prime Minister for prominently displaying the lotus symbol and likened the current political situation to a 'Chakravyuh'—a military formation described in ancient texts. He argued that six influential figures, including Modi and BJP leaders, are controlling the nation, much like the ancient tale of Abhimanyu trapped and killed in a Chakravyuh.

The Congress leader claimed that the budget has been detrimental to the middle class, who had shown support to the government in the past. He suggested that the policies of the present administration are adversely affecting millions of people across the country.

The ongoing budget session of Parliament, which started on July 22, is slated to conclude on August 12. (ANI)
