India has expressed grave concern over the unfolding crisis in Bangladesh, especially regarding the status of minority communities. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informed Parliament on Tuesday about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and her arrival at Hindon airbase near Delhi.
Jaishankar revealed that Hasina resigned after discussions with her security advisors and sought immediate approval to take refuge in India. India has reached out to the new leadership in Dhaka to ensure the safety of over 10,000 Indians currently residing there.
With rising tensions in Bangladesh, India has instructed its border forces to remain highly vigilant. Jaishankar highlighted that New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and engaging in continuous dialogue with the Indian community in Bangladesh.
