Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Tuesday inquired whether foreign forces, specifically Pakistan, could be behind the recent developments in Bangladesh during an all-party meeting. This was confirmed by Congress sources.
Gandhi also queried the government's strategy to manage the crisis in the neighboring country. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured the meeting that India has promised support to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived in India on Monday evening, allowing her time to determine her future course of action.
Responding to various leaders' questions, including Gandhi's, Jaishankar did not dismiss the possibility of foreign involvement in Bangladesh's unrest but stressed that the situation remains fluid. He assured that the Indian government is closely monitoring the developments. Gandhi expressed full cooperation on the issue and voiced concerns over minorities' statuses in Bangladesh.
