India Issues Advisory on Non-Essential Travel to Libya

India has issued a new advisory requesting its nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Libya, partially modifying a 2016 travel ban. The advisory also urges Indian nationals in Libya to exercise caution, avoid inter-province road travel, and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tripoli.

India on Tuesday issued an advisory asking its nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Libya, partially modifying a 2016 travel ban on traveling to the African country.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged Indian nationals in Libya to exercise caution, avoid inter-province travel by road, and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tripoli.

In a partial modification of MEA's Press Release dated May 23, 2016, which imposed a ban on Indian nationals traveling to Libya due to security threats, the latest advisory was issued in response to the updated security assessment. Indian national's travel to Libya should be limited to essential purposes only.
