Taj Mohiuddin Rejoins Congress, Resigns from DPAP

Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Taj Mohiuddin announced his resignation from the Ghulam Nabi Azad-led Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) and his plans to rejoin the Congress. Mohiuddin, who has been associated with the Congress for over four decades, stated that his workers have urged him to return to the grand old party.

Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Taj Mohiuddin announced on Saturday that he has resigned from the Ghulam Nabi Azad-led Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) to rejoin the Congress.

'I have resigned from the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP),' Mohiuddin confirmed to PTI over the phone. He disclosed plans to rejoin the Congress, a party he had been affiliated with for over four decades, within a few days.

'I have intentions of 'ghar wapsi (homecoming),' but I waited for the consent of my workers. They have now unanimously supported my decision. So, I am doing 'ghar wapsi' very soon,' he elaborated.

Explaining his departure from the DPAP, Mohiuddin cited his 45-year tenure with the Congress, during which his workers associated him solely with the party and its iconic symbol. 'My workers asked me to rejoin the Congress, so I decided to leave the DPAP and rejoin the Congress,' he said.

Mohiuddin, a former legislator from the Uri assembly segment in Baramulla district, resigned from the Congress in August 2022 to support Azad and subsequently joined Azad's party.
