Karnataka CM Faces Investigation Sanction: Protests Erupt Statewide

The Congress in Karnataka protested statewide against the Governor's sanction for investigating Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding site allotment irregularities. Demonstrations were held in several districts, alleging a conspiracy led by the central government to destabilize the elected state government.

The ruling Congress in Karnataka on Monday organized a statewide protest opposing the Governor’s decision to sanction an investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The inquiry pertains to alleged irregularities in site allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.

Congress leaders and supporters took to the streets, staging demonstrations, foot-marches, and rallies across district headquarters, brandishing placards and shouting slogans against the Governor. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar denounced the Governor's decision as a 'murder of democracy' and vowed relentless protests.

Protests were noted in Bengaluru, Udupi, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, and other key areas. CM Siddaramaiah rejected the allegations, accusing the Governor of acting under central government influence to destabilize the state government. 'This is a grand conspiracy involving BJP and JD(S) leaders,' he claimed, likening the situation to political moves in other states.
