The Congress is set to hold a protest on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of a BJP MLA accused of harassing the daughter of a local BJP leader.
All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba claimed on Monday that the woman retracted her police complaint under duress from the BJP's central leadership. The alleged victim is the daughter of a BJP leader in Chamba district.
Lamba announced that members of the Congress' women's wing will march from their party office to the assembly, insisting that the MLA should face jail instead of attending the Vidhan Sabha. She emphasized that immediate protection should be provided to the victim.
