Shares of Donald Trump's media company fell by 14% on Wednesday, influenced by rising odds of a Kamala Harris victory in the upcoming presidential election. The drop followed a heated debate where Harris questioned Trump's fitness for office, among other issues.
Trump owns more than 50% of Trump Media & Technology Group, valued at $3.7 billion. Retail traders closely monitor the stock, which has dipped almost 60% since mid-July as Harris' chances improved after she replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate.
Online betting platform PredictIt showed a decline in Trump victory pricing post-debate, while Harris' odds rose. Her candidacy also gained attention from Taylor Swift's endorsement on Instagram. Market strategist Charu Chanana noted the debate's pivotal role in the tight race.
