Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday expressed confidence that his party will secure victories in the upcoming Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He claimed that the October 8 results would mark the 'countdown' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's exit from the central government.

In an interview with PTI, Ramesh accused the BJP of using 'Vitamin-P for polarisation' in its election campaigns, alleging that the party's communal rhetoric would be rejected by voters, similar to what happened in the Lok Sabha elections.

Ramesh further criticized the BJP for intertwining domestic political campaigns with foreign policy, citing negative implications with neighboring countries. He predicted a series of setbacks for the Modi administration leading up to the national elections in 2024.
