Biden Urges Port Owners to End Dockworkers' Strike

U.S. President Joe Biden has called on U.S. port owners to resolve the strike by 45,000 dockworkers affecting East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. Biden emphasized that the consortium of six port owners, who have seen profits skyrocket since the pandemic, should negotiate to end the strike and not capitalize further.

U.S. President Joe Biden called on Wednesday for U.S. port owners to resolve the ongoing strike by 45,000 dockworkers, which has halted shipments at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports.

Biden highlighted that the consortium of six port owners controlled all the ports from the East Coast down to the Gulf and had seen profits surge by over 800% since the pandemic. He pointed out that these owners are making tens of millions of dollars amid the crisis.

"The last thing they need is to profit off of this. It's time for them to sit at the table and get this strike done," Biden told reporters.
