On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its candidates for six assembly constituencies in West Bengal, gearing up for bypolls scheduled for November 13. This electoral battle is considered a critical juncture for political factions amid the continuing protests by doctors following the RG Kar incident.
Despite the announcements from BJP, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), the Left Front, and Congress have yet to reveal their candidates. The constituencies set for polls include Madarihat, Sitai, Naihati, Haroa, Taldangra, and Medinipur, each experiencing political turmoil due to resignations triggered by recent Lok Sabha election results.
With mounting pressure from the prolonged doctors' strike, now on a hunger phase, the BJP sees a potential shift in voter sentiment. Leader Rahul Sinha expressed confidence, emphasizing that the electorate's dissatisfaction with TMC's governance might lead to unexpected victories for BJP in the upcoming bypolls.
