BJP Confident in Jharkhand Polls as Alliances Take Shape

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the BJP forming the next government in Jharkhand. Seat-sharing arrangements with NDA allies have been announced. The Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20 with votes counted on November 23.

With confidence soaring high, Assam Chief Minister and BJP's Jharkhand assembly co-incharge, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared the party's intent to form the next government in Jharkhand. He addressed reporters on Saturday, confirming ongoing seat-sharing discussions.

Sarma elaborated on the alliance dynamics, stating that AJSU will contest 10 seats, Janata Dal (United) on 2 seats, and Lok Janshakti Party on one seat. Although further adjustments may occur, this is the current scheme. Jharkhand will witness assembly elections in two phases, slated for November 13 and November 20, with results on November 23.

Earlier announcements by the BJP unveiled a candidate list of 66 names, including state chief Babulal Marandi running from Dhanwar. In a strategic setup, BJP will jointly contest with AJSU, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party. Current plans have BJP vying for the remaining 68 seats. Meanwhile, Jharkhand's incumbent CM Hemant Soren announced that the INDIA bloc, with JMM and Congress, will compete for 70 of the 81 seats in the state assembly.
