In a vehement critique, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati took aim at Congress and the BJP over their alleged exploitation of Dr. BR Ambedkar's legacy for political leverage. She called on both parties to shift from mere rhetoric to genuine reverence, emphasizing respect for Ambedkar beyond superficial measures.
Mayawati argued that for Dalits and marginalized communities, Ambedkar holds a divine status, credited with granting them constitutional rights that transformed their socio-economic reality. She accused rival parties of only feigning empathy, highlighting that true recognition for the Bahujan community was realized solely under her party’s governance.
Adding fuel to the discourse, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj denounced Amit Shah’s remarks about Ambedkar, calling it a manifestation of the RSS's narrow ideology. The controversy has intensified following Shah's critique of Congress using Ambedkar's name too often, sparking protests led by opposition heavyweights in Parliament.
