Indians Favor Trump's Return: Survey Reveals Surprising Support
A survey by India Today reveals that 40% of Indians view U.S. President Donald Trump's potential second term as beneficial for India, aligning with Modi supporters' views. The poll also shows Modi's alliance leading in hypothetical elections, despite India facing economic challenges.
In a recent India Today survey, over 40% of Indian respondents believe that U.S. President Donald Trump’s second term would positively impact India. The findings surface as Trump meets with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington.
The survey, known as the "Mood of the Nation," indicates that Modi supporters largely have a favorable view of Trump. Despite concerns about Trump's imposition of reciprocal tariffs, only 16% of those polled think his presidency would negatively affect India. This reflects the broader alignment between Trump and Modi's constituencies.
The poll further reveals that Modi’s alliance can potentially secure a 47% vote share if elections were held now, compared to 41% for the opposition led by Congress. Despite economic struggles, Modi's party and its allies have recently won significant state elections, indicating resilient electoral support.
