In a notable address on Thursday, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar urged India to maintain a balanced approach in its diplomatic engagements, emphasizing both strategic and cultural dimensions. He was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day national seminar focusing on recent developments in India's neighborhood.
Governor Arlekar highlighted India's longstanding philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' or 'The World is One Family', which has historically influenced the nation's diplomatic language and practices. While he acknowledged the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties with neighboring countries, he stressed the importance of a well-calibrated foreign policy amid prevailing political challenges.
The seminar, organized by the Centre for Defence and Security Studies at the Central University of Kerala, featured collaborations with the Institute for the Study of Developing Areas and other prominent institutions, aiming to analyze regional developments and their broader implications for India's foreign policy.
