The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified its criticism of the Congress, targeting Rahul Gandhi over allegations related to USAID funding. The party labeled Gandhi a 'traitor,' accusing him of conspiring with foreign entities to destabilize India, while dismissing reports suggesting that the financial assistance was designated for Bangladesh, not India.
In a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed significant USAID funds were funneled into India during Congress-led UPA's rule to manipulate India's political landscape, contrasting this with minimal funding under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure. Bhatia alleged the Congress's willingness to compromise India's sovereignty for foreign gains.
The party further connected the USAID issue to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, asserting the funds were meant to bolster his political stance against Modi. Responding to media inquiries, Bhatia warned of potential legal ramifications for Gandhi, backed by what he described as strong governance under Modi. He dismissed media narratives linking USAID funding to voter turnout in Bangladesh as misleading, underscoring the BJP's stance against foreign intervention.
