Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called on party workers to bolster organisational strength as they prepare for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Meeting with a delegation from the Dalit community, Gandhi discussed ongoing challenges, including the lack of protective gear for sanitation workers.
During his Rae Bareli visit, Gandhi paid homage to historical figures and criticised the government on unemployment issues. He also toured the Modern Rail Coach Factory, calling for improved railway safety and comfort for passengers. The factory's focus remains on general and sleeper coach production.
However, Gandhi's visit was marred by tension, with posters accusing him of double standards regarding Dalit leader Mayawati. Local groups demanded an apology for what they claimed were derogatory remarks made by a Congress leader against her.
