Significant changes are underway at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with Caleb Vitello being reassigned from his acting leadership role due to lagging arrests and deportations. According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, Vitello will now concentrate on overseeing enforcement operations, albeit without an administrative capacity. Meanwhile, the Trump administration, which made strong immigration reforms a central tenet of its agenda, has struggled with dwindling deportation figures during the early days of Trump's presidency.

Madison Sheahan, currently the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and a former associate of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during her tenure as South Dakota governor, is poised to take over the position. This move is part of a broader strategy to revitalize immigration enforcement under President Trump's leadership.
