In a sharp criticism of West Bengal's handling of its voter list, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma described the issue as 'hilarious' and predicted an end to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's political reign. He argued the Trinamool Congress chief would not regain power amid growing voter list concerns.
Adding weight to the controversy, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi demanded a comprehensive discussion in the Lok Sabha on voter list issues, stating that such errors were not isolated to Bengal but were a nationwide problem, evidenced in states like Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, TMC's allegations against the BJP's alleged manipulation of voter lists have been refuted by the Election Commission, which clarified that identical EPIC numbers do not indicate duplicate or fake voters, attributing the confusion to previous coding practices across states.
