During the debate over supplementary demands for grants and the Manipur budget, Patra drew a comparison between Gandhi and cricket captain Rohit Sharma, alluding to a previous comment on Sharma's fitness by a Congress leader.

Despite an assurance from Sandhya Rai, presiding over the session, that the contentious remarks would be expunged, Congress members persisted with their protest. Speaker Om Birla's attempts to quell the agitation proved futile, leading to a brief 10-minute adjournment.
