The Army and police in Jammu and Kashmir have launched a significant operation to defuse unexploded artillery and mortar shells in border villages after a resurgence of cross-border shelling from Pakistan. Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo assured that authorities are closely monitoring the situation to facilitate the return of displaced residents.
Over 28 individuals have lost their lives due to the shelling, disrupting the lives of over 2 lakh residents who were forced to seek refuge. Authorities have started compensating affected families and initiated rehabilitative measures for displaced residents, promising to expedite their return once safety is assured.
After four days of intense military conflict, an understanding has been reached between India and Pakistan to halt hostilities. Nevertheless, security concerns remain high as officials continue to clear border areas of unexploded shells while urging residents to stay vigilant.
