Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the forthcoming meeting in St Petersburg, coinciding with Russia's annual economic forum. It is anticipated that discussions will cover a range of collaborative efforts, including nuclear energy and joint military exercises, signaling a significant step towards strategic alignment.

The trade relationship between Russia and Indonesia, valued at $4.5 billion annually, is expected to be a focal point. As a new member of the BRICS group, Indonesia is keen on boosting bilateral trade and investment with Russia.
