This attack followed Kharge's remarks in Karnataka where he indicated that it falls to the party's high command to decide on any change of leadership, fueling speculation about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's position.

The BJP's national spokesperson, Pradeep Bhandari, claimed Kharge's acknowledgment of this decision-making process exemplified his status as a 'lame duck' president, sidelined due to his Dalit background.
