Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, asserting that the initiative, conducted for the first time in 22 years, is crucial for maintaining electoral integrity.
Despite criticism from opposition parties who argue this process might exclude eligible voters, Kumar reassured the public and politicians that the revision is running smoothly and transparently, involving active input from all political factions.
This revision, which precedes Bihar's upcoming elections, is part of a broader effort to remove ineligible foreign migrants from the voter rolls. The program is scheduled to expand to five additional states by 2026, aligning with national efforts against illegal migration.
