Police in Tripura's Khowai district have apprehended two suspects in connection with an attack on BJP workers during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat program. The arrests were confirmed on Monday, following an appeal for stringent legal actions by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
The attack, which saw at least seven BJP workers injured and multiple vehicles set ablaze, has been attributed to supporters of the Tipra Motha Party. The violence also resulted in three individuals being hospitalized at BGP Hospital in Agartala.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kudiarasu, the arrested individuals will be presented before a local court to seek police custody for further investigation. The FIR, filed by BJP's Mandal president Jayanta Debbarma, accuses 30 people of orchestrating the attack. The Chief Minister has condemned the incident, labeling it as 'violent and undemocratic.'
