Diplomacy in Action: Operation Sindoor's Impact on Indo-Pak Relations

In response to the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror infrastructures in Pakistan. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized that India's decisive action received global support, with only three nations opposing at the UN. The operation highlighted India's zero tolerance for terrorism and reiterated its right to self-defense.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized on Monday that at no point in discussions with the United States was there any trade linked to Operation Sindoor. Instead, the request to halt military action came from Pakistan via the DGMO channel.

Jaishankar highlighted that following the Pahalgam attack, only three of the 190 UN member nations, excluding Pakistan, opposed Operation Sindoor, indicating strong international backing for India's right to self-defense. The operation aimed to send a clear message that India's boundaries had been crossed, warranting significant repercussions.

Critics, including Congress' Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi, noted President Donald Trump's assertions that trade negotiations facilitated an India-Pakistan ceasefire, a claim India refutes as the understanding was achieved through direct DGMO talks. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was a pivotal response targeting terror havens in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
