National Conference president Farooq Abdullah announced the Congress has called an opposition meeting on August 7 in New Delhi, focusing on the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections expected in October-November and the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah affirmed his confidence in the return of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and touched upon various political issues, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claim of possessing significant evidence against the Election Commission for allegedly favoring the BJP.

Amid discussions, Abdullah expressed disappointment in the current government's handling of Jammu and Kashmir, also alluding to broader economic challenges, such as increased unemployment and strained foreign relations.
