In a significant move aimed at fostering peace and prosperity, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the Union cabinet's approval of a Rs 250 crore special development package for the state's tribals. This initiative follows an agreement with the once-outlawed National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).
The substantial fund is earmarked for boosting employment, health services, education, and skilling opportunities for marginalized groups. The agreement, signed last year, also facilitated the surrender of 584 insurgents, marking a new chapter for the state hailed as terrorist-free by Saha and former DGP Amitabh Ranjan.
Tipra Motha's leader, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, emphasized the critical timing of the peace deal, averting potential regional destabilization. With this new investment, Tripura eyes increased tourism, creating further employment and benefits for the northeastern region.
