In a forceful retort, the Congress party has condemned the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of egregious lapses and failures in electoral transparency. The Congress labeled these actions as 'crossing all limits of shamelessness' in response to concerns over manipulation and rigging.
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal demanded accountability from the ECI, questioning its refusal to provide machine-readable electoral rolls and its alleged deletions of CCTV footage critical to the electoral process. Venugopal insists that the responsibility of identifying vote theft should not rest solely on political parties.
The Election Commission defended its procedures, suggesting that political parties missed the opportunity to identify roll errors during the designated period. However, the Congress maintains that the ECI must do more to address public fears of potential vote manipulation.
