A local leader of the BJP from Khayerpur, West Tripura, has been expelled for circulating personal videos on social media. Manna Dey, who served as the mandal president, was removed for actions deemed as breaches of party discipline, according to a statement from the state party committee.

The controversy erupted after several intimate video and audio clips involving party leaders, including Dey, surfaced on social media, causing an uproar. Dey has been accused of sharing these clips, but he asserts that he is the victim of a conspiracy aimed at protecting others' interests.

In an official expulsion letter, the BJP cited Dey's behavior as tarnishing the party's image despite previous warnings. The letter, issued by state BJP general secretary Amit Rakshit, clarifies that Dey's expulsion was directed by state party president Rajib Bhattacharjee. In a social media post, Dey expressed his loyalty to the BJP, acknowledged the party's decision, and appealed to stop such conspiracies.
