Hungary Extends Olive Branch: Ready to Host Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
Hungary has reiterated its offer to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, with Budapest being considered for a potential summit involving the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto clarified misinformation regarding a call between President Trump and PM Orban about Ukraine’s EU accession.
In a reaffirmation of its diplomatic stance, Hungary has once again offered to facilitate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking on a podcast, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed Hungary's willingness to host the negotiations.
Reports suggest the White House is considering Budapest as the venue for a potential summit involving U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, according to Politico. The U.S. Secret Service is reportedly preparing for this trilateral meeting in Hungary.
Szijjarto denied claims of a phone conversation between President Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban about Ukraine’s EU accession, stressing that no such call occurred. The clarification comes amid discussions of Hungary's role in facilitating talks between Putin and Zelenskiy.
