In a bid to sway voters ahead of the imminent state elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K Annamalai has taken a critical stance against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Addressing the media, Annamalai described the DMK as 'arrogant,' underscoring the necessity for the BJP to consolidate its voter base. He criticized the DMK's confidence in coming to power should there be a split in votes, emphasizing the need for a robust counter-approach.

The BJP's offensive did not stop there. State BJP Chief Nainar Nagenthran continued the critique by questioning the actions of the DMK during its previous alliance with Congress. He brought up the historical issue of Katchatheevu's handover to Sri Lanka under the leadership of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with Karunanidhi as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister. Nagenthran questioned the lack of awareness from the state government at the time regarding this transfer, challenging DMK's governance.

Annamalai's earlier remarks also targeted the DMK's alleged reliance on monetary influence to garner votes. He urged the electorate to reject such tactics and instead support the National Democratic Alliance in bringing about a change of power. According to him, the DMK is overconfident that financial resources accumulated over four years could be leveraged to influence the upcoming election, an approach he firmly opposed.
