The Odisha unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has thrown its weight behind Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi for the Nuapada assembly bypoll scheduled for November 11.
The CPI(M) has urged the electorate to rally against those engaging in political games along religious lines, emphasizing the importance of unity among all communities to defeat divisive forces. According to Suresh Chandra Panigrahy, the state secretary, this election goes beyond individual candidates, representing a critical moment for the Constitution, secularism, and democratic rights in Odisha.
The party has accused the BJP government of fostering social discord and neglecting its election promises, highlighting issues such as employment, healthcare, and social justice as pressing concerns for the people of Nuapada. The CPI(M) calls for a clear electoral mandate against communalism and in favor of secular politics in the state.
