The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday took decisive disciplinary action by expelling Gopu Paramasivan, a district general secretary of the Yuva Morcha, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting his live-in partner.
BJP district leaders confirmed that Gopu's party membership has been revoked, effectively severing his association with the BJP and its youth wing.
The incident came to light after Paramasivan's live-in partner reported the assault, leading to his arrest on charges, including attempted murder. The case developed after Paramasivan initially sought police help, alleging the woman's disappearance. In reality, she reported being attacked with an electrical wire.
