In the aftermath of the Delhi blast, CPI(M) leader and Kulgam MLA Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami voiced concerns against stereotyping Kashmiris, stressing that such suspicions would not contribute positively to national security.
Addressing the media, Tarigami lamented the use of the 'white collar' terrorist label, citing historical instances of violence against Kashmir's intellectuals and leaders. Highlighting violent incidents involving figures like the late Dr. Sheikh Jalal-ud-Din and others, he emphasized the need for responsible discourse.
Tarigami also criticized a proposed 20 percent surcharge on electricity by the Kashmir Power Development Corporation, considering it a severe injustice. He urged the government to withdraw the proposal and fulfill promises made to low-income consumers, ensuring they receive the promised 200 units of free electricity.
