In a significant political shift, Rajesh Gupta, a notable AAP leader and former two-time MLA, has defected to the BJP just before the MCD bypolls. This development marks a notable setback for the Aam Aadmi Party.

Although AAP has not yet commented on the situation, Gupta's move reflects internal tensions within the party. Gupta, who also served as AAP's national spokesperson and managed the Karnataka unit, was welcomed into the BJP by Delhi state president Virendra Sachdeva.

The defection highlights lingering dissatisfaction with AAP leadership, especially in how workers are allegedly treated. Gupta, visibly emotional, criticized AAP's leadership style and cited it as a reason for the party's decline. He lamented his earlier dedication to AAP and criticized the allocation of bypoll tickets in the Ashok Vihar ward.
