Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav leveled serious accusations against the BJP and the Election Commission, claiming a deliberate bid to manipulate the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, thereby undermining voters' rights.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav expressed concerns over the timing of the SIR exercise amid wedding seasons in Uttar Pradesh, labeling the process as unjustified and alleging a well-planned strategy to weaken constitutional rights. He criticized the assignment of technical tasks to untrained individuals and pointed out discrepancies in form distribution statistics as strategic moves to disenfranchise voters.
Yadav underscored the toll on grassroots officers, mentioning incidents of stress-induced fatalities among booth-level officers. He demanded transparency and blasted the BJP's influence on electoral rolls before upcoming state elections, accusing them of hiring external agencies to analyze voter data and delete names.
