In a bold move, Ukraine deployed its homemade Sea Baby naval drones to target two Russian oil tankers—Kairos and Virat—in the Black Sea, a step seen as part of its efforts to impede Russia's wartime funding.
The vessels, part of a so-called shadow fleet evading international sanctions, were struck off the coast of Turkiye. Ukraine's security officials highlighted the significance of these strikes in crippling ships believed to be transporting nearly $70 million in oil.
Turkish authorities responded promptly, securing the safety of the ships' crew members, amidst reports of fires and potential drone impacts. This development underscores the ongoing tension in the region and the strategic use of naval drones by Ukraine.
