The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday called for the government to allow discussions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, crucial for the proper functioning of Parliament. This request was put forth during an all-party meeting attended by key leaders, including Derek O'Brien and Kalyan Banerjee.
In the meeting, held ahead of the Winter Session starting December 1, the TMC emphasized the importance of allocating more time for the Opposition during parliamentary discussions. The party argued that opposition voices have been sidelined, making up only about 25% of total speaking time in previous sessions.
Besides SIR, demands for a thorough discussion on national security were also raised. Meanwhile, government representatives, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president J P Nadda, assured efforts to ensure smooth session operations.
