The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Congress, accusing the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru of committing 'historical blunders' such as granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir and failing to prevent territorial losses to Pakistan and China.
Reacting to accusations made by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed that the current government's primary aim is to expose Nehru's political mistakes rather than to vilify him. Bhatia further alleged that Rahul Gandhi has been a destructive force in Indian politics.
Gandhi, on her part, alleged during an event at Jawahar Bhawan that the ruling party is systematically attempting to malign and defame Nehru by undermining his legacy — a claim that BJP dismissed as an effort to divert attention from historical missteps.
