APCC president Y S Sharmila on Thursday accused the TDP-led NDA government of planning to impose a financial burden of nearly Rs 15,700 crore on consumers through a proposed power tariff hike.
She criticized Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his contradictory assurances that electricity charges would not increase, despite the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) progressing with plans for an additional burden.
According to Sharmila, a public notice has been issued to gather feedback on the tariff hike proposal. She condemned the move, urging the chief minister to ensure that the proposed increase is absorbed by the government, maintaining that the repeated imposition of steep charges is unacceptable.
