In a significant display of democratic participation, more than 85% of eligible voters cast their ballots in the second phase of gram panchayat elections in Telangana, according to the State Election Commission (SEC).
The peaceful conclusion of the elections saw 46,70,972 out of 54,40,339 eligible voters exercising their franchise, marking a turnout of 85.86%. Counting of votes commenced shortly after polling ended.
These elections, held from December 11 to 17, are viewed as a crucial popularity test for the Congress, BRS, and BJP, particularly after the recent bypoll victory by Congress in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency.
