In a bold move, the Congress has announced nationwide protests against the newly proposed VB-G RAM G bill, set to replace MGNREGA. The party claims this legislation is a ploy by the BJP-RSS to dismantle a rights-based welfare scheme and erase Mahatma Gandhi's enduring legacy.
K C Venugopal, the Congress general secretary for organization, has urged state party leaders to conduct protests at district headquarters with portraits of Mahatma Gandhi. The demonstrations aim to underscore the detrimental effects of the proposed law on millions of MGNREGA beneficiaries.
The introduction of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been met with strong opposition from the Congress and other parties, both in Parliament and across the country. The protests are scheduled to intensify on December 28, aligning with the Congress Foundation Day.
