On Wednesday, Congress workers spearheaded by Uttar Pradesh's party president Ajay Rai convened in Lucknow to protest against the Enforcement Directorate's actions targeting prominent figures Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
The protestors faced police intervention, resulting in several detentions. This demonstration came in the wake of a Delhi court dismissing the ED's charge sheet, noting that it stemmed from a private complaint rather than an official FIR under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
While attempting to approach the BJP office, Congress members were halted by heavy police barricading, leading to a sit-in by Rai and his supporters. Accusations flew as Rai alleged political misuse of central agencies by the BJP, a claim the ruling party dismissed as theatrics.
