Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, initiated significant diplomatic talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan amidst rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE regarding Yemen.

The talks followed a Saudi-led coalition assault on what was claimed to be foreign military backing for southern separatists at Yemen's Mukalla port, seemingly targeting a UAE shipment.

Dar expressed satisfaction with Islamabad and Riyadh's positive diplomatic relations while the Saudi Foreign Minister reaffirmed commitments to strengthen bilateral ties. The discussions, however, omitted any mention of Yemen, focusing instead on deepening Pakistan-UAE relations into a strategic economic partnership.
