Amid ongoing local body elections across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has raised serious allegations of electoral malpractice. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Thackeray accused the State Election Commission (SEC) and the ruling Mahayuti alliance of colluding to enable multiple voting.

Thackeray's allegations center around the indelible ink used to mark voters, which he claims can be easily removed with nail polish remover and sanitizers, allowing individuals to cast multiple votes. "This election has seen numerous complaints about indelible ink being removed easily," Thackeray stated, questioning whether the SEC had employed a sanitiser agency to facilitate the ink's removal.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'One Nation One Election' proposal, suggesting it seeks to generate chaos and ensure electoral victories through illicit means. He urged citizens to vote in large numbers and stressed the need for transparency, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections proceed with Shiv Sena (UBT) in alliance with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
