Defection Drama: Robert Jenrick Joins Nigel Farage's Reform UK

Robert Jenrick, the former Conservative Party leadership hopeful, has defected to Nigel Farage's Reform UK, marking a significant shift in the British political landscape. This move comes after his dismissal from the Conservatives following leaks about his intention to switch allegiances.

Speaking at a news conference alongside Farage, Jenrick criticized the two main political parties, labeling them as 'rotten' and unfit to govern. His defection makes him the second sitting lawmaker to join Farage's camp, which now commands six seats in the 650-seat British parliament.

Earlier in the day, Kemi Badenoch announced that Jenrick had been removed from her team after evidence surfaced of his plans to leave the party. Previously, Jenrick had used his position as justice spokesperson to elevate his profile on key issues, possibly positioning himself for a leadership challenge.
